Meet Our Doctors - South

  • Dr. Trevor Strahla
    Veterinarian

Dr. Trevor Strahla grew up in Pimento, Indiana with three other siblings and currently resides in Coatsville, Indiana. He has always shown an interest in the health and well-being of animals, so it was only natural for him to become a veterinarian. As a hobby, Dr. Trevor had
raised and showed Miniature Schnauzers for nearly 10 years. He has also been active in 4H Rabbit club since he was a boy, and continues to be a proud supporter of 4H. During his free time, Dr. Trevor enjoys reading, hiking, and spending time with his pet and human
family members. Speaking of pet family members, Dr. Trevor has a large household! He has three Parrotlets; one named “Y,” and the other two are unnamed at this time. He has four Russian Tortoises named Tasha, Lenny, Annastasia, and Pearl. Then he has two Greek Tortoises, who still haven’t found their names (it is difficult to determine the sex of Tortoises until they are much older)! And lastly, his beloved Miniature Schnauzers, Ben, Boo, and Izzy.

Dr. Trevor received his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 1996 from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. He is currently a member of the AVMA, and IVMA. Dr. Trevor joined the team at Heritage Animal Hospital nearly 10 years ago and continues to provide valuable experience and knowledge to all of his patients and clients. Dr. Trevor’s favorite part of his job is being able to send a pet home healthy and happy after they came to us sick.

Dr. Trevor Fun Fact: His favorite animal related movies are Black Stallion, That Darn Cat, and Misty!

  • Dr.
    Jessica L. Cooke
    Veterinarian

Both of Dr. Jessica Cooke’s parents are veterinarians—growing up in her household, it wasn’t hard for young Dr. Cooke to fall in love with veterinary medicine! As she progressed through her education, she realized she had a passion for interacting with clients and advising them on the best possible care for their furry friends.

A Terre Haute native, Dr. Cooke attended Indiana University for her undergraduate degree in biology, then earned her DVM degree from Purdue University’s School of Veterinary Medicine in 2007. She started here at the hospital later that year. Dr. Cooke’s professional interests include client education, surgery, and ophthalmology. She says if she had to choose a particular niche within veterinary medicine, she’d become a veterinary ophthalmologist! Dr. Cooke is also starting to delve into the business side of veterinary work.

Dr. Cooke enjoys speaking to children about her profession. She also loves spending time at the lake, traveling, trying new foods, and spending time with her daughter Kiyah, and her two dogs– Puppy and Ross.
