  • Kala K.
    Registered Veterinary Technician

Kala was born and raised on a small farm in Annapolis, Indiana, along with her twin sister, an older brother, and an older sister. As children, she and her siblings were surrounded by horses, pigs, goats, and natural wildlife. They had many pets growing up, such as cats, dogs, hamsters, and Guinea pigs. Today, Kala has a Red Heeler/Border Collie mix named Roscoe and a Boston Terrier/Pug mix named Fred. She has no doubts that her furry family will continue to grow!

In high school, Kala continued to show great interest in the health and well-being of animals, so she found work at both a goat farm and an Angus farm. Her love for tending to animals naturally led her to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. She chose to continue her education at the Vet Tech Institute in Indianapolis, Indiana. It was there that Kala would become a successful student, making the Dean’s list each term, and later graduating with her Associate’s Degree in Veterinary Science in May 2015. In November 2015 she passed the Veterinary Technician National Exam to become a Registered Veterinary Technician.

Kala actually became part of the Heritage family months before her official start date. She chose Heritage Animal Hospital for her externship in March 2015 for the opportunity to learn and gain experience in the field. We all loved her dedication and drive from the very beginning! She truly believes that the best part of what she does comes from the feeling of satisfaction she gets when she knows that she has lent a helping hand to every patient that comes through our doors.

Besides spending time at the hospital caring for all of her patients, Kala enjoys spending time with her daughters. She loves introducing them to animals and other wildlife in hopes that they will have the same love for animals that she does. She and her father share a love of working on old cars and fixing them up. She loves to spend time in the kitchen where she can bake all the goodies her coworkers can eat! She also loves to spend extra time with her friends, family, and pets.

Kala Fun Fact: Kala’s favorite animal related movie is Cats vs. Dogs

  • Abby
    Veterinary Assistant

Abby has been with Heritage Animal Hospital since May 2017. She started as a Kennel Attendant/Bather and has recently moved up to a veterinary assistant. Abby has always had a passion for animals starting at a very young age. Growing up she always had multiple pets including dogs, cats, rabbits, and fish. Abby was also in 4-H during elementary/middle school in which she showed rabbits. After graduating high school, Abby attended college and graduated with an Associate of Science degree in Nursing. She pursued her nursing career for over 10 years but never felt that was her calling. She wanted to dedicate herself to her passion/love for animals so in 2015 she started working at the Clay County Humane Society. She served in multiple capacities while working at the shelter from kennel lead to management, and animal control.

After working at CCHS for 2 years Abby felt like it was time to try something new in the veterinary field. Abby was then welcomed into the HAH family where she still resides today. In her spare time, Abby enjoys spending time with her family and friends. She also loves spending time with her 3 rescue dogs Spanky, Gus, and Baxter.

  • Megan T.
    Registered Veterinary Technician

Megan joined the Heritage Animal Hospital team in April 2021 after relocating back to the Terre Haute area in 2020. Megan grew up in the small town of Farmersburg, just south of Terre Haute and has always been an animal lover. Megan knew she wanted to work in medicine and her love for animals is what lead her into her veterinary career. Megan began working in veterinary medicine in 2013 while living in Tennessee with her husband and instantly fell in love with atmosphere. She graduated from Pima Medical Institute in Colorado Springs, CO in 2017 with her Associate of Applied Science. Due to her husband’s time in the military, Megan has had the privilege to practice veterinary medicine in multiple different areas in the United States, but is happy to set her roots down back where she grew up! Currently, Megan lives in West Terre Haute with her husband, daughter, 2 dogs and cat.
Megan has special interests in emergency and critical care and hopes to specialize in the future. Megan’s long term goals would be to volunteer on a mission trip with the charity Mission Rabies and open a cat sanctuary. In her spare time, she enjoys gardening, spending time with family and exploring the great outdoors.

  • Amy D.
Patient Care Coordinator / Registered Veterinary Technician

Amy joined the HAH family in December of 2022. She has been a credentialed Technician for over 40 years.  She graduated from Madison Area Technical College's Veterinary Technician Program (now Madison College) in 1983. One could say she was always supposed to work with animals.  Her first word spoken was, 'bowwow'.  Her first sentence spoken was, 'See the bowwow'.   This is documented in her baby book so it MUST be true.

She has worked as a credentialed veterinary technician in 5 different states over the years.  Most of her career has been spent in emergency medicine.  While discharging the pets to their families it became clear to her that more time was needed to help pet parents manage the needs of their convalescent fur babies.  To this end, she was allowed to create a position where she concentrated on client education and instruction. She has spent the last 10 years sharing her time and knowledge doing this at a level 1 veterinary emergency and trauma specialty hospital.

Amy’s favorite part of veterinary medicine is to use her knowledge to help pet parents care for their beloved fur babies.  The joy of reuniting pets who were very ill or injured with their 2-legged housemates is why she went into this career. In addition to this, the chance to snuggle with animals brings a joy that cannot be underestimated.

Amy was afforded the opportunity to move to Indiana and join Heritage Animal Hospital in December.  The pleasure of working with pets throughout their lives from first exams through their senior years is a welcome change from the stress of an emergency trauma center.

In her leisure time, she enjoys reading Science Fiction/Fantasy, watching cheesy old science fiction movies, eating fresh Wisconsin cheese curds, and exploring the wonderful outdoors.

Kendra has 6 rescue dogs and 1 cat. She also usually has a few foster animals at home. Kendra enjoys reading, cooking and learning new things in her free time.
